• Migraines with aura: Seeing an aura means having visual symptoms such as flashing lights or blind spots right before having a migraine. This kind of migraine comes with an elevated risk of both heart attack and stroke.
• Daylight savings time: The time changes mess with more than just sleep. This disruption of our body’s rhythms can impact the heart. Research shows that there was a 25% increase in the number of heart attacks on the Monday after the clocks move ahead, compared with other Mondays during the year. Interestingly the number of heart attacks fell the day after the clocks move back.
• Too much exertion if you are normally sedentary: Exercise is good for us, but going too hard, too quickly, can put us at risk for heart issues, especially if we aren’t used to physical activity.
