Current 2026 rankings from Hospice Analytics place Aspen Healthcare Services among the nation’s quality leaders in hospice care. Aspen Hospice Care, based in Lewisville and serving patients throughout Denton and Dallas counties, has earned a Hospice Analytics Quality Ranking Score of 93 out of 100, compared with a national average of 68.
Hospice Analytics identifies hospices scoring 85 or higher as the top 20% of hospices nationwide. Aspen’s 93-point score places the organization comfortably within that group.
The national recognition expands on Aspen Healthcare’s recent selection as Best of Denton County 2026 in both the Home Health and Hospice categories. The dual win continued a record of consistent community recognition for Aspen, now a six-time Best of Denton County honoree. That recognition reflected the experiences and votes of people in Aspen’s local community. The Hospice Analytics findings add another dimension, demonstrating that Aspen compares strongly across objective measures of hospice quality as it serves patients and families throughout the greater Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Hospice Analytics gave Aspen Healthcare top scores across a range of quality indicators:
Two of those perfect scores are particularly noteworthy. For both Hospice Visits in the Last Days of Life and Staffing Ratios, Hospice Analytics divides hospices nationwide into five equal groups based on performance. Only the highest-performing 20% receive the full 20 points in each category.
Aspen therefore ranks in the top national quintile for both staffing ratios and hospice visits during the final days of life.
Aspen also received the full 20 points for Levels of Care. Medicare recognizes four levels of hospice care: routine home care, continuous home care, general inpatient care and respite care. Hospice Analytics awards the maximum score only when a hospice has provided all four levels during the measurement period.
Aspen’s Hospice Analytics profile also identifies the organization as CHAP accredited, a quality program participant, a provider of community bereavement services, and a hospice with more than 75% of its patients receiving care at home.
Hospice Analytics has been analyzing Medicare and other national healthcare datasets since 2008. Its National Hospice Locator launched in 2012, and in 2023 the organization began publicly ranking every known hospice location in the United States by quality. Hospice Analytics describes the system as the first publicly available nationwide quality ranking covering all U.S. hospices.
The ranking system was developed with input from hospice leaders nationwide. Its methodology is unusually transparent: Hospice Analytics publicly identifies the measures it uses, where the underlying information comes from, how much each category contributes to the score and how points are awarded. The same methodology is applied across U.S. hospices and recalculated as updated information becomes available.
Hospice Analytics founder and CEO Cordt T. Kassner, PhD, has worked at the intersection of healthcare and data analysis for more than 30 years. He has served on three Medicare Technical Expert Panels involving hospice quality measures, along with numerous national healthcare boards, committees and research initiatives.
For Aspen Healthcare President Sukhu George, the recognition reflects a broader commitment to making high-level healthcare available in the place many patients most want to receive it: home.
“With our more recently launched Palliative Care program, we can now bring nurse practitioner-led care into the home for people living with serious illness, regardless of prognosis and even while they continue curative treatment,” said George. “Together with our recognized home health and hospice programs, that gives us an extraordinary opportunity to provide skilled, compassionate care across a very broad range of needs. We are deeply honored to be trusted with work that is so important to our patients, their families and our communities.”
Aspen’s Palliative Care program extends home-based medical care to people who may not qualify for hospice or who are continuing treatment intended to cure or control their disease. Nurse practitioners make home visits with a focus on complex symptom management, quality of life and coordinating care for patients living with serious or chronic illness. Unlike hospice, the program does not require a terminal prognosis.
Together, the recognitions tell a broader story about Aspen Healthcare’s role in North Texas. Six Best of Denton County honors demonstrate years of community recognition. The Hospice Analytics score adds nationwide benchmarking based on objective healthcare data.
For patients and families across Dallas-Fort Worth, Aspen Healthcare now brings together award-winning home health, nationally recognized hospice care and an expanding Palliative Care program designed to help people receive increasingly sophisticated healthcare in the comfort of home.
